Saving a Layout for the web in PSCS4

Keep your settings as below with the checkboxes. Change the resolution of a 12x12 layout to 72. Note the pixel dimensions change to 864 x 864 pixels.

Go up to the pixel dimensions and change them to 600x600.

Now under the file menu FILE>SAVE FOR WEB & DEVICES

When the window opens up, first, you do have a choice of how many view of your layout are showing. I usually just do the optimized choice because when I save to display a layout in a photo gallery I'm not really comparing it to the original.

Be sure JPG is chosen on right.
Highlight the quality.... use down arrows (or up arrows) on your keyboard until the number below the picture on the left size reads 125 or below (some galleries need smaller sizes and some allow larger sizes!). Then click save and simply navigate to where you save these files on your computer. Done.

Chocolate Lovers Dream Cake

Many years ago my neighbor handed me this recipe. It is truly a cake that can be served in slivers because it is sooooo rich. And I made it more so by frosting it with chocolate cream cheese frosting.

So here is the recipe:

Chocolate Lovers Dream Cake
makes 16 servings

1 box Betty Crocker Supermoist BUTTER recipe chocolate cake mix
1 1/2 cup chocolate milk
1/3 cup melted butter
3 eggs
1 16oz container sour cream
1 4-serving package of chocolate fudge instant pudding mix
1 12-oz bag semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Grease 12 C bundt cake pan or 13x9 glass pan with shortening, and lightly flour. You can also use 2 round cake pans and cook only for about 35 minutes.

Mix all ingredients but the chocolate chips until well blended. Mix will be very thick. Stir in the chocolate chips. Scoop into prepared pan(s). For first 2 pan options bake in center of oven 55-65 minutes or until top springs back when lightly touched. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Cool on wire rack for 2 hours. Frost with chocolate cream cheese frosting...

Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe

1 8 oz package cream cheese at room temperature
1/4 C butter (1/2 stick) at room temperature
3-4 C sifted powdered sugar (according to taste and desired thickness)
1/2 C cocoa powder
Mix cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.
Mix in powdered sugar, one cup at a time.
Mix in cocoa powder.

Now indulge and don't blame me for the satisfied smiles on your faces!!!

School's Out! New Kit!

Yesterday was the final day of school for Taylor. I get my sweetie home with me now for the summer. Next autumn she can start school as a proud 4th grader! I've watched her ability at math, her creativity in writing, and her overall confidence to peek out at the world from her shy shell grow this year. And she grew another 1 1/2 inches through the school year!!! LOL

Taylor has been playing softball this spring. Her team finally pulled together and started making hits and doing better fielding and won three games in a row. But last night lost when the game was called half way through due to the rain that had been falling almost the whole game. They always play better as the game progresses so who know, maybe they'd have won 4 in a row if the game had been allowed to continue. But Taylor did hit 2 for 2 and brought in a run so she was quite happy - and her teacher from school came and caught just the last few minutes of the game. A nice little thrill for Taylor because she doesn't know where Mrs. Olson will teach next year and saying goodbye to your teacher for the year is always hard.

Finally.... my new kit, Softball Princess will release at my store in scrapbook-elements tomorrow morning. I am so loving scrapping with this kit. Just go to my store link in the sidebar on Sunday to get it.

Here are some previews and layouts:

Nature in the Backyard

After several days of spectacular weather, yesterday was rainy again. Taylor's softball game cancelled. This morning, while cool, there is lots of blue sky and sunshine mixed with giant puffy white clouds gently sailing by. They seem to be missing the brooding quality of rain clouds so I think the rain may be done - and more spectacular weather is supposed to be on the way. During last weekends amazing weather we brought out all our deck furniture and pots of flowers and Taylor's 'fairy garden' emerged.

When we moved here there was an enormous open field behind us with a small mountain (molehill?) covered in mostly evergreens. We are lucky to live almost on an urban boundary where we can walk to see horses in fields and on a good day a deer may be found eating the wild grasses. On a bad day he may be eating your tomato plants! I used to think it was slugs that did that until my neighbor informed of what he saw. lol. I have pics of those deer on my cell phone from last week but don't have a clue how to download things of the cellphone. That might mean actually reading a manual. Have I ever mentioned how badly I detest reading manuals?

Well, 5 years after moving to our paradise, houses were built on a curving street behind us. Really big houses. Way too close to the rear of our house! Really high roofs. In retrospect it is good that the builder lowered that land 15 feet from us. But we still don't think it is good that that builder refused to build a fence behind us after creating a cliff! So let me say how secretly pleased I was when with the drop of the economy he had several houses sitting, just costing him money, long after they were built. In fact, he still has one behind us remaining unsold. If I could place an evil laughter sound here I would! All we see mind us now are rooftops. It's very ugly. Lucky for us we had that molehill covered in evergreens that rises above those roofs. I usually sit in my comfy brown leather chair, with my feet up, designing on my laptop, with that beautiful mountain sticking up to look at. Which brings me back full circle to the title of this post: nature in the backyard!

As I walked back in the house this morning from dropping Taylor at school I got to see a spectacular looking American Goldfinch sitting in Taylor's fairy garden working on eating the seeds Mike accidentally kicked into it on the weekend. Her little planter sits right beside my 'designing chair' at the window and that goldfinch let me come right up and watch for a while. After about 5 minutes, it finally flew away. In spring we see a lot more varieties of birds around us than later in the year. We love watching the birds swoop around the sky in their aerial displays.

Other morning bird news. As Taylor and I were about to get into the car for the trip to school a hummingbird visited us in the garage. We wondered if it was the same hummingbird we had trouble getting 'out' of our garage during the blizzards last December!

And final bird news of the morning. We have a 'stupid' robin in the neighborhood again. I say stupid because he chooses to attack our windows thinking he sees territorial enemies in our windows. So every day the robin spends a while flying up to the same window attacking it and then wiping its poopy butt against the glass. Messy and funny at the same time.

Watching a new (for me) TV show on HBO. Well actually in my ON DEMAND for HBO. Good friend mentioned it to me: It's called True Blood. And is about vampires being accepted into main stream society. NOT A KIDS SHOW - THEY SHOULDN'T EVEN BE IN THE SAME HOUSE IF YOU CHOOSE TO WATCH! LOL. To say there is nudity and sexuality in this show would simply be an understatement. Yet still, the show has perked my interest so I'll be watching episodes to catch up on year one of the show, while I design or work on websites in my brown leather chair.

Thats it for now. I'm out.

Just another day, but a frustrating one.

We're just ending a fantastic steak of weather... highs in the 80's. Wahoooo!

This morning I did my water aerobic class. For the first time there are no kickboards available for the class, but lucky for me another lady handed me hers preferring a foam tube for the exercises. For the first time I did it in full makeup because I was going to get new passport photos taken right after at Costco. Well wouldn't you know it. The instructor gets everyone doing some kicking thing in the pool and I get two big splashers on either side of me. Splish splash splish splash right down on my hair. My hair that is ready for passport photos. Did you know that kickboards can be used as umbrellas? Well the health club has this cool machine that wrings out swimsuits. Today my locker was right beside it. I always bring an extra small towel to stand on as I change into dry clothes. Did you know that all the water wrung out of a swimsuit in one of these machines splashes directly on the floor? Another not happy discovery for me. lol.

So I go into Costco to get my passport photos taken. Did I mention these are Canadian passport photos? They have diffent requirements for the photos and Costco can't do it. Trying to think of where I can get this done and I go to 3 more photo studios over the next hour to no avail. Hair is not looking so perky anymore and makeup is probably fading into my face at this point. Every place I went I asked for suggestions. One placed (kudos to Picture People for this!!!) mentioned going to AAA. Well I do have a membership and yes, they could do it.

Later came the fun of paying huge fees to courier my passport info up to Canada. Now I just have to hope it arrives in time for my trip which I booked later in the summer just to give it enough time to arrive. Last time I went to Toronto with my family my husband's and daughter's passports arrived with only days to spare!

So later in the afternoon hubby sends me off to get new tires for my car. Les Schwab here I come. Boring and expensive. Strangely my neigbor turned up 10 minutes before I was done. At least that was a nice little chat.

Now to the gas station. Pull in with no pumps available for the side of the car I need. Start to turn around to go into a spot and some @^#%&^*& pulls into it behind me. I yell at the attendant and he finds me a spot. In fact, one look at my face and he finds me that spot quickly. Hubby calls and asked if I got a good deal on the tires. Told him I didn't bargain and he tells me but that was why he sent me to boredom land and not himself. I guess he should have told me. I tell him the gas station attendant is probably filling the car with water right now because I got pissy. Did I mention that an older lady in the grocery store the other day said I had a very happy disposition and it was such a pleasure. I forgot to bring my disposition to the gas station apparently.

Accidentally forgot to plan a dinner on purpose. (really that makes a lot more sense than one might think) But I didn't suggest we go out. Made spaghetti with sauce straight from a bottle. Daughter claimed the sauce tasted sour and wondered why our faces go into such a funny position when we eat something sour. I told her to rinse her noodles in the sink.

I'd like to say that tomorrow I get to keep working on my Circus Kit. But I have 2 websites I'm in the middle of redoing and they need to get my focus. Alas. I really want to do the other type of designing.

But I have at least done some scrapping recently. Here's some layouts. Credits can be found under mybetrside at digishoptalk.com.

Creamy Chicken Enchiladas

Well yum! We tried a new recipe tonight as Taylor is finally wanting to explore more food options and thus more recipes. Thus, this past week she's had my Szcechaun Stir Fry and actually went looking for extra broccoli because she liked it so much in the sauce, and fish in a pineapple salsa. Tonight we have successfully added Creamy Chicken Enchiladas to our growing list of yummy dinner recipes. This recipe came right off the Campbell's website.

Creamy Chicken Enchiladas
From: Campbell's Kitchen
Prep: 20 minutes
Bake: 40 minutes
Serves: 6

Ingredients:

1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Campbell's® Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup (Regular, 98% Fat Free or 25% Less Sodium)
1 container (8 ounces) sour cream
1 cup Pace® Picante Sauce
2 teaspoons chili powder
2 cups chopped cooked chicken
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese (about 4 ounces)
10 flour tortillas (6-inch), warmed
1 medium tomato, chopped (about 1 cup)
1 green onion, sliced (about 2 tablespoons)

Directions:

Stir the soup, sour cream, picante sauce and chili powder in a medium bowl.

Stir 1 cup picante sauce mixture, chicken and cheese in a large bowl.

Spread about 1/4 cup chicken mixture down the center of each tortilla. Roll up and place seam-side down in a 3-quart shallow baking dish. Pour the remaining picante sauce mixture over the filled tortillas. Cover the baking dish.

Bake at 350°F. for 40 minutes or until the enchiladas are hot and bubbling. Top with the tomato and onion.
